If the error “Hardware failure in the modem” appears on the pc/laptop, do the following:
- Please disconnect both pc/laptop and mobile from any connection type, restart pc/laptop and mobile, and reinstall the settings after deleting the existing ones. This error indicates that the modem installed is not connecting properly to the pc/laptop.
- If the error “there was no dial tone” appears on the pc/laptop, do the following:
Please check that the modem selected to dial is the right modem for the mobile connected.
This error indicates that the modem used cannot find a tone (DTMF) signal to connect to.
- If the error “Subscribe to GPRS first” appears on the pc/laptop, do the following:
This error indicates that you are not subscribed yet to the Mobile Internet service. Please call our helpline 111. They are ready to serve you 7/7 from 8:00 to 01:00 am
- If the error “Authentication Failed or the remote computer did not respond” appears on the pc/laptop, do the following:
Please check the APN, username and password on the pc/ laptop and check AT command (AT+CGDCONT=1,”ip”,”alfa”).
Moreover, check the APN (internet.mic1.com.lb) on the mobile connection.
- If the error “The server did not assign an address” appears on the pc/laptop, do the following:
Please delete the account on the mobile and pc/laptop and reconfigure them again.
In case the connection type is “cable”, please make sure to use “modem” type and not “pc sync type” when the cable is connected to the phone.
- If the error “ The modem is not responding” appears on the pc/laptop, do the following:
This error appears while connection via “infrared”. Please disconnect it from the pc/laptop and restart both pc and mobile and then connect the mobile to the pc until a beep is heard and an icon of infrared port appears. Create the connection again and connect.
- If the error “this page cannot be displayed” or white page are displayed on the pc/laptop, do the following:
Please go to browser settings on your pc/ laptop (internet explorer, fire fox, opera….etc)/Tools > Internet options> Connection > LAN Settings >automatically detect settings. If checked, please uncheck it and vice versa and then refresh the page.
- If the error “PPP link protocol was terminated” appears on the pc/laptop, do the following:
For windows XP:
Please go to Start > Control panel > Phone and Modems options. Choose the modem you are connected to
Double click on it and go to advanced and insert the following command
AT+CGDCONT=1,”ip”,”alfa”
For BlackBerry, the APN: AT+CGDCONT=1,”IP”,”alfa”
N.B: the command is case sensitive
For windows VISTA:
Please go to Start > Control panel > Phone and Modems options. Choose the modem you are connected to in the modems
Press on Properties, General, select change settings, press on advanced button and insert the following command AT+CGDCONT=1,”ip”,”alfa”
For BlackBerry, the APN: +CGDCONT=1,”IP”,”alfa”

To see the following:
- If the error “reply unknown” appears on the handset, please refresh the page, if the error persists, delete all existing settings and install a new one.
- If the error “Web session time out” appears on the handset, please check other address because the website you are trying to access has a traffic load.
- If the errors “Connection error or Communication error or Connection unavailable or Network unavailable” appear on the handset, please activate the right access point or activate the connection alfawap from the handset browser.
- If the error “Subscribe to Packet data or GPRS first” appears on the handset, please check the WAP consumption if it reaches the limit or activate the right access point.
- If the errors “cannot connect with current connection settings” or “the page cannot be found” appear on the handset, please go to connection and choose “work network” and check the settings. This error appears on pocket pc.
N.B:
- Pocket pc’s should be restarted after applying new settings by pressing the small reset button located at the bottom or the right side of the mobile.
- Nokia communicators should be restarted by removing the battery and restarting the mobile after installing new settings.
- Choosing the right access point on a non symbian nokia mobile is by going to: Web or services, connection or configuration settings, active access point and choose wapgprs or alfawap.
- On a symbian nokia mobile go to: Web, press options, choose settings, active access point and choose alfawap or wapgprs.
